Each season, the top 5 men and 3 women from this region automatically qualify for the Challenger Series. The WQS (Women’s Qualifying Series) is set to happen in South Africa, becoming a staple for women’s outdoor sports.
As it continues to push women’s surfing further each year, the WQS Surf Series in South Africa provides an opportunity to help surfers qualify in the only all-women’s QS in South Africa.

South Africa has some of the best and most consistent surf breaks in the world but the qualifying series, for years, lacked events there. This year competitive surfing is back in South Africa and the season returned with a bang, with five QS Events ranging from 1 star, to 3 star, before culminating at the 6 star Ballito Pro.

The penultimate event of the South African Surf Series takes place at Pollock Beach. This is one of the highlights of the WSL Africa tour and features a Women’s QS 3000, Men’s QS 1000 and Junior Men and Women’s QS 1000 rated events. With a field of top international and local surfers, this event is bound to heat up as the best South African Surfers face off some formidable opponents. Fierce competition may see some position changes ahead of the final event of the series.
The Vic Bay Classic takes place in the winter months so expect the biggest swells and highest quality of surfing. Watch former CT contender fight for the win as the crowd cheers their local hero.
