Tiree Wave Classic

Since the very start of the event, a traditional Scottish sword known as Claymore has been the ultimate prize for the winners of both the Pro's and the Women's competitions. This year, it will be Willy of Wild Diamond Watersports who will bestow the sword upon the winner.

For 30 years, a small sleepy island found off the North West Coast of Scotland has played host to one of the most prestigious events known amongst the windsurfing community. 61 competitors have arrived on the island for the Tiree Wave Classic. This is about to become the stage for top level windsurfing techniques in one of the most challenging conditions the UK has to offer. 

Thanks to the famed Atlantic swells that roll along its coastline and despite being home to just 650 people, this watersports mecca attracts surfers and windsurfers from across the world. Tiree's wild coastline is battered by some of the UK's highest wind ratings, creating the perfect meteorological conditions to host the longest running windsurfing event in the world - the Tiree Wave Classic.

In its 32nd year, the event continues to showcase the best, most extreme, windsurfing seen in competition. Attracting some of the best riders in the world to make the pilgrimage to the small island located in the inner Hebrides off the Northwest coast of Scotland, this is one of the four events taht make up this year's British Wave Sailing Tour Championship.
