The Stand Up Paddle (SUP) season is entering its decisive phase with a packed calendar of national and international competitions. Following a busy start to the year, the coming months will feature some of the most important events on the circuit, ranging from European SUP League events to continental and world championships.
If you’re a stand-up paddleboarding enthusiast, these are the competitions that will define the second half of the season:
Isla Cristina (Huelva, Spain) | 10 July 2026
The first major event of the summer comes to the Andalusian coast with the Discover Huelva SUP Festival, one of Spain’s leading international events. The competition will bring together some of the best national and international riders for long-distance, technical and sprint events, cementing Huelva’s status as one of the must-visit destinations on the European calendar.
Huelva (Spain) | 5 and 6 September 2026
The European SUP League enters its final stretch with a decisive stop in Huelva. The circuit’s top athletes will compete for crucial points ahead of the grand final, in an event that promises a high standard of competition and a great atmosphere both in and out of the water.
Sesimbra (Portugal) | 11–13 September 2026
Portugal will host the climax of the European circuit with the grand final of the European SUP League. Over three days, the continent’s top riders will battle it out to be crowned champions of the season in one of the most eagerly awaited events on the international calendar.
Melilla (Spain) | 2–6 October 2026
Melilla will be the venue for the European Stand Up Paddle Championships, one of the most prestigious competitions of the year. Organised under the auspices of the European Surfing Federation, the event will bring together national teams from across the continent to compete in disciplines such as long-distance, technical race, sprint and SUP Surf.
Sabaudia (Italy) | 14–18 October 2026
The season will culminate with the SUP World Championships organised by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). Sabaudia will bring together the world’s elite stand-up paddle surfers in a competition that will crown the world champions in the various disciplines and serves as the sport’s biggest international showcase.
In addition to these major competitions, the 2026 calendar includes other events of great interest to stand-up paddle surfing enthusiasts. Among them is the Gran Canaria Surf Fest, which continues to establish itself as one of Spain’s most important board sports festivals and now includes SUP events in its programme.
The second half of 2026 promises to deliver some of the best moments in international stand-up paddleboarding. Spain will once again play a leading role with several top-level events, whilst Portugal and Italy will host the season-ending rounds of the major European and world circuits.
With competitions spread across July and October, the coming months will offer athletes and fans the chance to enjoy the very best of SUP, with some of the sport’s leading figures competing for the season’s most prestigious titles.
