Spain has many charms and it is undeniable that its natural beauty is breathtaking. It is the perfect destination to get on a boat and enjoy a memorable, exclusive and unique sailing holiday.
Gothic architecture, tapas, flamenco, sangria, a famous nightlife… we recommend our top five sailing destinations in Spain so you can enjoy your holidays in the Mediterranean Sea.
In the region of Catalonia and right in the heart of the Costa Brava, Roses captivates eager eyes for its beautiful natural bay. It is a picturesque stop for sailors and cannot be missed if sailing around this area.
Tips: You can also enjoy exploring the Aiguamolls Natural Park, try scuba diving or snorkelling around the Cap de Creus or relax at the beautiful Cala. Also, as it is close to the French border, you could go for a quick peak.
Mallorca is the largest island of the Balearic Archipelago. With its blue waters and charming landscapes, it is an unmissable stop when sailing in the Mediterranean Sea.
The island is the sailing hub for the islands and it has different boats exploring all the sailing areas of the island: amongst them we recommend Caló des Moro. The cove has clear-clean water with a great variety of fishes, so make sure to bring your goggles to discover the wildlife!
Other spots you should not miss out on are the Playa es Trenc, Can Pastilla or Soller Portocolom. Also, if you want to step inland, explore the stone pathways of the fortified town of Alcudia and get enchanted by Palma de Mallorca’s cathedral.
Between Denia and Pilar de la Horadada, the Costa Blanca (White Coast) has beautiful sandy beaches worth visiting. The city of Alicante has a beautiful port and old town and is a good stop. Also, if you visit this area, going for a day trip or overnight stop to the island of Ibiza or Formentera is also optional.
Also, if you decide to go south towards the Costa del Sol (Sun Coast), the subtropical climate and Moorish influences remind visitors of its proximity to Africa. If you decide to stop in Benidorm, visit the Balcó del Mediterrani for the most spectacular views of the sea.
