Founded in 1951, The Dusi Canoe Marathon is one of South Africa's most iconic endurance events. This marathon covers roughly 120km of pure strength, fitness and grit as athletes go from Pietermaritzburg and Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, on the East Coast of South Africa.
The Dusi Canoe Marathon is the biggest canoeing event on the African continent, attracting each year between 900 and 1600 paddlers in one of the world’s most popular river marathons. The race is comprised of 3 days of paddling where paddlers choose between normal marathon K1s, K2s or even K3s.
Paddlers will have to sort the rocky river and make provision to their own hydration in this arduous race divided in three stages. Watch the Dusi Canoe Marathon as paddlers race across the South African landscape, on Nautical Channel.
