Bass by Kayak follows a small expedition party formed by four adventurers crossing from the Australian mainland to Tasmania in sea kayaks. With a 300 km separation, a bare four hundred people have made the crossing of the Bass Strait in the modern era. Before then, Aboriginal Australians sailed in their canoes the shocking distance during the last ice age.
This adventure makes strategic stops on the islands along the way; however, it is one of the toughest and deadliest journeys in the world. Adventure filmmaker Beau Miles narrates the expedition as the first ever feature film of the crossing via sea kayaks.
The travellers will experience chafe, storms, bad cooking and an emerging mate-ship between men that barely know each other.
