The event is being held in the waters of Marina Rubicón, in Playa Blanca, consolidating the island as one of the world's great venues for Olympic sailing.
After several days of competition, the championship has now completed its qualifying phase, giving way to the final series in which the world titles in the men's ILCA 7 and women's ILCA 6 classes will be decided. In the ILCA 7 category, Slovenia's Luka Zabukovec leads the provisional standings after a very solid regular phase, closely followed by Italian sailors who are keeping up constant pressure at the top of the rankings. The competition is extremely close, and any mistake could prove decisive in the final series.
Meanwhile, in the women's ILCA 6 class, Italy's Ginevra Caracciolo leads the standings after the first few days of racing in a highly competitive fleet where several European sailors still have a real chance of fighting for the podium. Consistency is proving key in what is a particularly tight category.
The Spanish team is also playing a prominent role in this 2026 Youth Sailing World Championship, with several sailors in leading positions. Irene de Tomás, from the Real Club Náutico de Valencia, and Adriana Castro, from the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja, remain close to the top spots after a very consistent qualifying phase.
