The Ruta de la Sal has presented this Wednesday its 35th edition. As every Holy Thursday, which this year falls on April 6, the starting signal will be given to this international regatta, which will depart from Port Ginesta and the Real Club Náutico de Denia to Ibiza. In this act the director of the regatta, Andrés Oliva, has been extremely satisfied with the high number of participants for this edition. This meeting has 170 pre-registered boats and again recorded pre-pandemic figures, confirming that this regatta is the one that brings together the largest fleet of all those held in Spain.

In this new edition, a new rating system has been adopted, having adopted the ORC system, with the support of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation. And thus enhance the internationalization of this regatta, undoubtedly one of the most attractive in the Mediterranean, by route and calendar. This system will facilitate the distribution of the fleet in more equitable groups, being important the enhancement of the presence of multihulls, who will compete for the Bali Trophy (Bali best classified) and / or the Med Cat Trophy (winning catamaran).

The charter boats, more and more numerous in La Ruta de la Sal, will keep in turn an intense particular fight to get the GlobeSailor trophy, although the main objective of all participants will be to win one of the quatix®7 watches that Garmin puts at stake for the absolute winners. Once again Ausmar offers all kinds of advice on safety on board, so that everyone is in perfect condition and eager to enjoy the many attractions of Ibiza and the warm welcome of the Yacht Club of Sant Antoni de Pormany, which this year celebrates its 50th anniversary.

For the first time, Nautical Channel will be a sponsor of this magnificent regatta with a main objective: international diffusion of La Ruta de la Sal, through its television channel that reaches nearly 44 million European homes.

The organization invites all those interested to "join us in this incomparable sporting adventure and come and share with us the excitement of the arrival in Ibiza of the participants of this 35th edition of La Ruta de la Sal, after the 140 miles sailed from Port Ginesta or the 120 miles that separate it from Denia".

"It is difficult to find a more ideal pairing than ours between tourism and the sea. We were born in Ibiza and the name of the chain is already indicative of our nautical link: Ocean Drive," said Antonio Huguet, director of operations of OD Hotels. For his part, Juan Miguel Costa, island director of the Consell Insular d'Eivissa has remarked that "La Ruta de la Sal is already part of the DNA of the Ibizans, after 35 years of almost uninterrupted celebration. We look forward to welcoming you all with open arms". Miquel Tur, councilor of Tourism of the Sant Antoni de Portmany Town Hall has remarked how important this event is for his municipality, "to talk about La Ruta de la Sal is to talk about Sant Antoni de Portmany, its bay, its sunset, its warm welcome and, we hope that one more year, of good sun and better wind".

The presentation was also attended by Francisco Javier Planas, commodore of the Yacht Club of Sant Antoni de Portmany, who recalled that this year marks the 50th anniversary of his club and "with this we want to pay tribute to all those who have contributed to make this project a reality and, of course, to those who have made us the host point of La Ruta de la Sal. With the collaboration of Ports IB we will be able to moor all those who aspire to participate in this well-established regatta," said Planas.

The president of La Ruta de la Sal, Enrique Curt, has remarked the importance of this type of meetings, since "La Ruta de la Sal is not only a regatta but an event to promote sailing, both as a sport and as a leisure activity. The proof of this promotional point is the ever-increasing number of charter boats participating, which means for many amateurs their debut in offshore sailing".

Finally, Xavier Torres, president of the Catalan Sailing Federation, thanked "Club Náutico Skipper for maintaining its unwavering enthusiasm over the years, crisis and pandemic proof. The Ruta de la Sal is an event that encourages people to enter the exciting world of sailing, being a springboard to the world of regattas".
