The Apex 850 has a mast 107 meter-tall and will be 85 meters long. British naval architect Malcolm McKeon and The Netherlands based shipyard Royal Huisman have united to give birth to this boat.
This sailing yacht will be one of the biggest in the world. The vessel is so big that its creators have had to remodel life onboard to provide the best sailing experiences to its guests. Construction will begin the moment a client is interested in owning the world’s largest sloop and the world’s largest aluminium sailing yacht.

This is one of the most exciting projects the yachting world has seen. Despite being one of the largest sailing superyachts, the aesthetic of the vessel will be taken into consideration in detail. The Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design website describes it as “dramatic in scale yet infinitely elegant in appearance,”
With its aluminium hull, the Apex 850 will be immensely strong and resilient, lighter than steel and quieter than carbon vessels. This yacht will be able to achieve 20 knots with ease and will be incredibly manoeuvrable under main and blade jib. It can even be tacked by the helmsman alone.
"«Two of the world’s ten largest sailing yachts, ATHENA and SEA EAGLE II are Royal Huisman builds and APEX 850 would make a fitting third, easily becoming the largest member of this elite circle." Royal Huisman
Minimalism will be the design ethos of the Apex 850. There will be continuous glass sides with see-through exterior panels that will at the same time act as the principal structural component of the yacht. This means there is a glass superstructure that will shimmer with ethereal quality.
The Apex 850 will be able to accommodate 12 in five superb suits. The owner’s apartment occupies 250sq.m alone with its own bathroom, sauna and private kitchenette. From this apartment, the owner will be able to directly access the beach club, which doubles as a cinema room with floor-to-ceiling glass.
Further aft, an expansive 50sq.m swimming pool, gym and social area can be used by all its guests. Other amenities aboard include a wine cave, large guest lobby, a scuba diving store and access to side swim platforms from the midships lazarette. The Apex 850 has accommodation for a crew of 14.

This creation by Royal Huisman and Malcolm McKeon has raised expectations in the nautical world for its environmental impact. There is a clear growing interest for environmentally sustainable yachts and this can be seen within the characteristics of the Apex 850.
With leading-edge hybrid diesel electric propulsion and energy generated technologies, the vessel will optimise energy efficiency and minimise the ecological footprint of the yacht. It runs through a Smart energy management system that will optimise fuel efficiency. This allows the Apex 850 to meet accommodation and hospitality service needs even in Silent Mode.
