Less than a week to go until the start of the controversial World Cup in Qatar. Due to its limited hotel capacity, the Asian country will have three MSC cruises available for fans and families during the 2022 World Cup.
More than a million visitors are expected during the tournament, so the demand for hotels has been bestial. Although thousands of workers have been hired in recent years to build new hotels, there is a feeling in the Asian country that there will be a shortage of capacity. That is why Qatar has signed a deal with cruise liner MSC to increase the emirate's hotel capacity during the 2022 World Cup games, so that its largest ships can be used as floating hotels.
The cruise ships chosen as "hotels" will be MSC Opera, MSC Europa and MSC Poesia (more than 4,000 cabins) and will be docked in the port of Doha for 30 days.
It is not only the most affluent fans who will be staying on these luxury cruise ships, according to the newspaper "The Sun", the family members of the England team will be staying on MSC World Europa.
